The world is so big and most of our students do not even know the dimensions of the Earth. I know that many of our high school students have never travel outside the United State and do not realize the size of the Earth. I would use this picture problem to help students understand the size of the Earth. The student will need to solve for the volume of the Earth which is a sphere. The earth’s diameter is about 7,917.5 miles.
