The following learning progression takes a step into the world of Trigonometry and approaches the uses of Sine, Cosine, and Tangent and introduces students to the Unit Circle. In order for students to understand the Unit Circle, they must first understand Sine, Cosine, and Tangent. They will learn about the values of each degree (or radian) in terms of a 360 degree circle, as well as the x- and y-coordinates of these values. Using the Pythagorean Theorem students will be shown how to determine the values of sin, cos, and tan, as well as being shown with a circle.
